Abstract

The accumulation of industrial, mineral and agricultural residues, and the growing popular habitational deficit are two great problems that have been accentuated quickly in the last years. In this research, the potentiality of the use of two industrial residues was evaluated - one from the granite cutting (GCR) and another from the petroleum refining industry – the catalyst used in the cracking of the petroleum (ECat) - like pozolanes used in the production of structural constructive elements of smaller financial cost, objectifying its application in habitational programs of social interest. The study was divided in three sections where there were made physical, chemical, mineralogical and environmental risk analyses firstly. The second section had as objective to evaluate the pozolanic potentiality of the residues through physicalchemical tests and the mechanical strength to axial compression. The third section studied the confirmation and the application of the results obtained in laboratory, in industrial scale. The study showed that the use of both residues is technically viable due they could be used just as was proposed, besides bringing the ecological and economic benefits for giving them value with the simultaneous aggression reduction to the environment.
