Abstract

With the development of submarine arrangements with a higher degree of complexity and the need of more engineering studies, it is necessary to consider new criteria in the pipeline route elaboration, in order to avoid structural damage to it and thus obtain an operation safe and with low cost, therefore, this work approach the inclusion of new subsea engineering criteria in the subsea pipeline routes optimization, just like hydrostatic collapse, thermomechanical buckling and free span criteria, aiming to demonstrate how an optimization tool can provide results of conceptual analysis regarding the proposed engineering criteria. The first was developed following recommendations in the DNVGL-ST-F101 and according to the method called Renew Classical Approach, which include a larger range of D/t, in relation to standard recommendation. The second was developed based on the Hobbs analytical model, which approach the pipeline heated buckling and considers as a premise a pipeline supported on the sea soil and without curvature. The third considers a free span pipeline and analyze the forces in each segment of free span pipeline and generates a cloud of pairs of effective axial force and span length, following the criteria present in the practical recommendation of DNVGL-RP-F105. The three criteria are analyzed in the optimization problem in order to assist the engineer to predict damage to the pipeline and to mitigate the effects.
