Abstract

The pavements have short shelf life compared to other civil construction works due to the repetition of loads and weather mainly. Since opening to traffic accumulates structural and functional defects, and when they reach critical values are necessary corrective interventions or restoration. This study analyzes some of the propositions set out in the catalog of solutions Paving Program CREMA 2nd STAGE of the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT), which guides the restoration of federal highways. This catalog was designed based on the California bearing ratio and measures of recoverable deflections of the pavement. This dissertation analyzes structural strengthening solutions listed in the catalog using mechanistic empirical method and resilience modules obtained by basin deflection backcalculation programs for which they were indicated alternatives. Cells were chosen representing the various proposed solutions to traffic levels and examples of highway sections for which they were appointed. From these sections database, and obtaining the modules, software was used dimensioning pavement, and by analysis of stresses and strains was performed to predict the useful life of the solution indicated by the catalog. It was possible to verify that the structure of the solutions catalog, which provides the useful life of ten years, not always meet this deadline for mechanisticempirical analysis performed with the assumptions and criteria allowed.
