Abstract

The need for reassessment of installed fixed offshore platforms is gaining importance within the oil exploitation industry . A better simulation of damages on existing platforms caused by environmental and operation loads, achieving more realistic results, has become a tool of great importance for its efficiency and economy. The objective of this dissertation is allow a better understanding of one of the aspects related to the reassessment of fixed platforms: the consideration of the flexibility of tubular tubular joints. This may allow significant changes in the results of the simulations, that serve as a basis in decision-making for reusing or extending the service life of fixed offshore structures. Therefore, this dissertation will examine issues related to the behaviour of such structures, assessing the influence of the flexibility of the tubular joints, and the selection of areas for inspection based on the results of fatigue analysis of some existing fixed platforms.
