Avaliação da Usabilidade de Interfaces por Meio de Gestos das Mãos em Aplicações Utilizadas pelos Engenheiros de Petróleo
Resumo
Interação adequada, natural, flexível e ajustada ao usuário tem sido campo de estudo, na tentativa de criar interfaces de computadores mais próximas da linguagem humana, inclusive em aplicações baseadas em gestos. Avaliar essas interfaces, com o objetivo de atestar sua usabilidade no ambiente de trabalho, faz-se necessário, visto que a tecnologia computacional está presente no cotidiano profissional dos usuários. Este trabalho tem como objetivo avaliar a usabilidade de interfaces baseada em gestos das mãos em aplicações utilizadas por engenheiros de petróleo. Foram realizados estudos sobre interfaces gestuais, conceitos, métricas, medidas, atributos e critérios de usabilidade de interfaces e, posteriormente, procedeu-se ao levantamento das necessidades dos engenheiros de petróleo, tendo em vista a visualização de documentos (mapas, plantas estruturais, bacias hidrográficas e outros) e a escolha de gestos das mãos, a serem utilizados pelos engenheiros, durante a interação com esses documentos. Para avaliar a usabilidade da interface em questão, foi construído um protótipo funcional, empregando a metodologia de desenvolvimento de sistemas orientados a objetos. Os resultados obtidos pela aplicação desse protótipo revelaram que há indicativos favoráveis de que a interação baseada em gestos da mão direita satisfaça os usuários em termos de eficiência, facilidade de aprender, facilidade de memorizar e de prazer em usá-la, em confronto com as interfaces tradicionais.
Abstract
Appropriate interaction, natural, flexible and adjusted to the user has been study field, in the attempt to create closer interfaces of computers of the human language, besides in applications based on gestures. To evaluate those interfaces, with the objective of attesting their usability in the work environment, it is done necessary, because the computer technology is present in the professional users' daily. This work has as objective evaluates the usability of interfaces based on gestures of the hands in applications used by engineers of petroleum. Studies were accomplished on gestures interfaces, concepts, metrics, measures, attributes and criteria of usability of interfaces and, soon after, proceeded to the rising of the engineers' of petroleum needs, tends in view the visualization of documents (maps, structural plants, basins and other) and the choice of gestures of the hands, used by the engineers, during the interaction with those documents. To evaluate the usability of the interface in subject, a functional prototype was built, using the methodology of development of systems oriented to objects. The resultsobtained by the application of that prototype revealed that there are favorable indicative that the interaction based on gestures of the right hand satisfies the users in terms of the efficiency, facility of learning, facility of memorizing and of pleasure in using it, in confrontation with the traditional interfaces.
